Ruth Salmon

Ruth A. Salmon, 94, of Wakefield, Nebraska died on Wednesday, July 4, 2007 at the Wakefield Health Care Center in Wakefield, Nebraska. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 7 at 10:00 A.M. at the Wakefield Evangelical Covenant Church in Wakefield, Pastor Ross Erickson will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Bressler ~ Munderloh Funeral Home in Wakefield, Nebraska. The family will be present at the funeral home from6:00 until 8:00 P.M.. There will be a prayer service at 7:00 on Sunday evening. Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery. Ruth Adelia Salmon was born September 28, 1912 in rural Wakefield Nebraska, the daughter of Nels A. Nelson and Anna Swanson Nelson. She died on July 4, 2007 at the Wakefield Care Center. She was 94 years old. Ruth grew up, attended school, and worked in the Wakefield area. On April 7, 1934 she married Frederick Salmon at West Point, Nebraska. They settled immediately in Wakefield and became actively involved in the community. Ruth’s extraordinary gifts of hospitality and care giving were evident in her years of service in church and community organizations, in her support of extended family, and in her involvement in the many activities of her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was a long time member of the Evangelical Covenant Church and an organizer of numerous community events sponsored by the Hospital Auxiliary. Ruth is survived by her five children and their spouses: Don and Sue Salmon of Leesburg, Virginia; Shirley and Hal Nilsson of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Jim and Lisa Salmon and Mike and Chris Salmon of Wakefield; and Dianne and John Krehbiel of Salt Lake City, Utah; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; two brothers, Mel and Marge Nelson of Longmont, Colorado and Bob Nelson of Independence, Iowa; and one sister, Velma Forsberg of Wakefield. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred, two brothers, and four sisters.
