Click here to view video tribute.   Waldon H. Tonjes, 78, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2007 at Colonial Haven Nursing Home in Beemer, NE. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 26, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, rural Pender, Ne, with the Rev. Steven Tjarks officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Munderloh Funeral Home in Pender, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Rosehill Cemetery in Pender. Waldon was born on June 20, 1929 in Pender, Nebraska, the son of Harry and Rosa (Wegner) Tonjes. He graduated from Pender High School, and farmed with his father southwest of Pender. He married Marcellene Clatanoff on June 3, 1951 in Howells, Ne. He entered the U.S. Army in 1951, and after serving in Korea, he came back to Pender to farm. He belonged to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pender, serving on many offices. He later joined St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and also served the church in many capacities. He also served on the Pender Community Hospital and Pender Airport Boards. He moved into Pender in 1979, and retired from farming in 1997. Waldon is survived by his wife Marcellene, three daughters: Connie Teut and her husband Deane of Sioux Falls, SD and their children, Jill Teut and Kala Teut and Kala’s fiancé, Joe Featherstone; daughter Kae Kemerling and her husband Richard of Denver, Co, and their children Denton and Kelsi Kemerling: and daughter Carol Webster and her husband Jan of Pender, Ne., and their children Apryl Dolliver and her husband Jason, Sherry, Kyle and Kelly Webster, as well as great grandchild Maya Dolliver. Waldon was preceded in death by his parents.
