Richard A. Bonderson

February 19, 1929 — April 26, 2013

Richard Adolph Bonderson, 84 of Sioux City died Friday, April 26, 2013 peacefully at his home after a brief illness. Services will be Tuesday, 11 AM at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Burial will be prior to the service at Rose Hill Cemetery, Emerson, NE with full Military Rites. Monday at 5PM the family will receive family and friends at the church with a 7 PM Prayer Service. Arrangements are with Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home, Pender, NE. Richard was born February 19, 1929 to Adolph and Ruth (Prouse) Bonderson. He received his education in Emerson, NE, graduating in 1947. In 1950 he entered the US Airforce serving in the Philippines during the Korean Conflict as an airplane mechanic. On June 3, 1951 he married Mardell Relitz. Two daughters were born to this union. They celebrated 61 happy years together. After his discharge from the Airforce he engaged in farming in Dakota County. In 1964 he sold out to attend Bailey Technical School in St. Louis learning diesel mechanics. He then worked twenty years for Condon Motors specializing in fuel injectors. He spent the last ten years of his working career teaching diesel mechanics for Western Iowa Tech Community College. Richard was active in his church serving in many positions and assisting in any way he could. Survivors include his wife, Mardell; two daughters, Deborah (Wayne) Wragge of Bloomfield, NE and Kim (Gary) Kortje of Crofton, NE; four grandchildren: Keli Wragge of Papillion, NE; Tony (Nicole) Wragge of Phoenix, AZ; Jana (Shervin) Razavian of Kansas City, KS and Jared Kortje of Tempe, AZ; plus three great-grandchildren: Addison and Avery Wragge, and Drew Holdt. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jean.
