Lyle L. Hansen

Lyle Louis Hansen, 92, of Pender, NE, passed away Monday, June 03, 2013, at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, NE. Funeral services for Lyle will be Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender, NE, with Pastor Miles Ruch officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 4, 2013, from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials are suggested to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. Arrangements by Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE. Lyle was born October 3, 1920, in Wakefield, NE, to John and Marie (Tarnow) Hansen. Lyle attended and graduated from Pender High School. He attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln for a short time before moving back to Pender to start feeding cattle. Lyle married Joy K. Waltermeyer on May 25, 1952, to this union five children were born. Lyle served as the County Supervisor for 16 years; he was on the Pender Hospital Board, a member of the Nebraska Cattle Association. Lyle owned and operated Hansen Feed Service, Mobil Gas Station in Pender and Hansen Trucking. Lyle was an avid lifetime golfer and card player; he also played and enjoyed baseball. Lyle was a faithful member at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender. Lyle is survived by his wife Joy K. Hansen of Pender, NE; sons, Steve Lyle (Jeanne) Hansen of Pender, NE, Perry Earl Hansen of Norfolk, NE, Paul John Hansen of Omaha, NE; daughters, Sally Jo (Don) Maslonka of Fremont, NE, Susan Marie King of Omaha, NE; 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; sisters Marcella Hillegas of Pender, NE, Lorinda Magirl of Omaha, NE; brother, Elmer Hansen of San Antonio, TX. Lyle is preceded in death by his parents John and Marie Hansen and brother, Fred Hansen.
