Dixie R. Prokop, 77, of Emerson, Nebraska died on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, Nebraska. Funeral services for Dixie will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson; Vicar Kaila Hochhalter will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M., with a family greeting friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson, NE. Dixie was born on April 15, 1936 in Emerson, Nebraska, the daughter of Herman and Signa (Anderson) Bottger. Dixie was baptized and confirmed at St. Pau’s Lutheran Church in Emerson. She attended school in Emerson and was united in marriage to Harry Prokop on June 20, 1962 at Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church in Omaha, Nebraska. To this union two daughters were born: Karen and Jodi. Dixie and Harry owned and operated Harry’s Place in Emerson for many years. Harry died on December 24, 2005. She was active with the American Legion Auxiliary, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the Church Quilting Group. Dixie continued to live at home for several until entering Heritage of Emerson Nursing Center. Dixie is survived by her daughters: Karen Prokop of Omaha, NE and Jodi (Bob) Norris of Dumas, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kori Norris and fiancé Jeff Trimble of Amarillo, TX and Tyler (Heather) Norris of Dumas, TX and great granddaughter Kymbree Norris. She is also survived by sisters Connie (Charlie) Winegardner of Spirit Lake, IA, Sandie Paulsen of Omaha, NE, Linda Bottger (Dick Clark) of Missouri Valley, IA, and brother-in-laws Raymond (Bonnie) Prokop of Thurston, NE and George Prokop of Dallas, OR and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Harry.
