Michael A. Hays

Michael Anthony Hays, 47, of Malmo, NE passed away Monday, April 7, 2014 at his home in Malmo. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 12, 2014 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender, NE at 2:00 p.m.; Pastor Jeremy Murfin will be officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, April 11, 2014 at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. with family present from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Burial with Military Honors will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Pender, NE. Memorials may be directed to the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home of Pender, NEMichael was born March 18, 1967 the son of Edward and Starla (Cook) DeMoss in Cheyenne, WY. He graduated from Pender High School in 1986. He went on to earn a welding degree in Grand Island, NE. Michael was a member of the National Guard. He was currently employed as a machine operator with Burlington Railroad. Michael enjoyed watching NASCAR races and anything Irish, including the Celtics. He loved being outdoors, especially camping, hunting, and fishing. He loved spending time with his family, especially his children. Michael is survived by his parents Edward and Starla DeMoss of Pender, NE, children: Kyleen Michelle Hays and Zachery Edward Hays of Norfolk, NE, and Aaron Michael Hays and Kyra Nicole Hays of Malmo, NE along with their mother Beth, sisters; Delisa Mae Hays Grimm of Deadwood, SD, and Jennifer Ann DeMoss Barnes of Saratoga Spring, NY, brothers; Patrick Ley Hays of Phoenix, AZ and Timothy Lynn Hays of Lavern, CA, and three grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Michael is preceded in death by his grandparents; Alvin R. Cook, Vivian Mae Carol, and Edna Stout, and great grandmother- in- law; Mary Farna.
