Sharon A. (Simonsen) Heineman, 66, of Pender, Nebraska passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender, NE. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 12, 2014 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender, NE; with Pastor Miles Ruch officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Rosehill Cemetery in Pender, NE. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE. Sharon was born April 5, 1948 in West Point, NE to Kenneth and Lucille (Alberts) Simonsen. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pender, NE. Sharon attended and graduated from Pender High School in 1966. She continued her education and received her RN degree from Methodist Nursing School in Omaha. On May 23, 1970 Sharon married Don Heineman at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pender. To this union four children were born. Sharon was active in the Pender Hospital Auxiliary, Pender American Legion Auxiliary, Nebraska Department of Health and the Memorial Park Committee. She was a member and very active in St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender where she taught Sunday and Bible School. . Sharon worked for the past forty plus years at the Pender Community Hospital. Sharon is survived by her husband, Don Heineman, sons, Matthew (Krista) Heineman of Thurston, NE, Mark (Donica) Heineman of Kearney, NE; daughter, Melissa (Kevin) O’Mara of Omaha, NE and son-in-law, Scott Hanly of Suffolk, VA; sisters, Shirley (Woody) Frey of Thurston, NE, Cindy (Delvin) Lierman of Syracuse, NE, Brenda (Andy) Critel of Trumbull, NE and Jeanne (Jim) Flucke of Overland Park, KS; brothers, Warren (Maggy) Simonsen of Gaithersburg, MD and Robert (Patty) Simonsen of Pender, NE; mother-in-law, Helen Heineman of Pender, NE; 9 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Sharon is preceded in death by her daughter, Marsha Hanly and her parents Kenneth and Lucille Simonsen.
