Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE. Della was born in Mountain View, Missouri on June 23, 1927, to Ephriam and Viola (Coberly) Fisher. She lived in Missouri until 8 years old when her father passed away. The family moved to Iowa for a short time before settling in the Macy, Nebraska area. Della attended Macy Public Schools through the 8th grade. She had seven siblings. When Della was 17 years old her family moved to Rainier, Washington, but Della decided to stay in Nebraska. She worked at Fairmont Ice Cream Factory in Sioux City, IA and kept house for the Ed Rohde family. She married John H. Twyford on August 2, 1953, at the home of Troy and Emma (Jensen) Twyford. She moved to the farm where she would spend the rest of her life with John. John and Della had three children, Ken, Emma Jean, and Rita, with 12 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Her life revolved around her family. If you needed help, she was always there with wisdom, love and support. She grew up in a poor family during the depression and understood the value of a dollar and family support. She loved to tell her family the story of eating lard sandwiches and papering the walls of the house with newspaper to keep the cold wind out while teaching them about values. Sunday dinner at grandpa and grandma’s house became a tradition. She shared her love of crocheting with all her family. Each child and grandchild has an afghan she made for them. Baking day at grandma’s house was a special time for all family. She loved to put together puzzles and could be found working on them into the wee hours of the morning. She enjoyed going to auctions, and garage sales, crafting, gardening, farming, and spending time in her home. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John; her son, Ken Twyford (Alice Cruse); daughters, Emma Jean (Warren) Schultz and Rita Dunn (John Grolmus); her grandchildren, John J. B. (Dorothy) Twyford, Anita (Wade) Rose and their children Dylan and Danielle and her children Whitney, Jarhia, Kareesa; Lynn Schultz (Gary Bottger) and her children, Jennifer and Kristin; Ken Schultz and his children Dylan, Matthew, Alyssa, Dayton and Athena and her daughter, Hannah; Becky (Roger) Clinard and their children Michael and Jacob; Bonnie Schultz (Jason Johnson) and their children Tyson, Aidan, Kalliah, Emalee; Beth (Drew) Offner and their children Skye, Devon, Caleb, Jayden, Harper; Missy (Alex) Young and their children Braxtyn, Keagen, and Korbin; April (Jeremy) Sundberg and their children Alec and Calleigh; Lee Dunn (Ashley Tyree) and their children Emma, Ethan, Everly; Clinton Dunn (Shayna Suhr) and their children Seirra, Clayton, Tayven, Mia, and Kinlee; Lewis “LJ” (Erika) Dunn and their children Adreanna and Trent; sisters, Irene Scholtman of Yakima, WA, and Elaine Bedford of Olympia, WA; brother, Gene Cram of Rainier, WA.
