Roger G. Thomsen

Roger G. Thomsen, 72, of Pender, NE, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2016 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Lincoln, NE. Memorial services will be Friday, August 26, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church; Pastor Beverly Rautenberg-Panko will be officiating. The visitation will be Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE. Roger was born January 12, 1944 to Darold and Esther (Sebade) Thomsen in Wakefield, NE. He attended school in Emerson. Roger married Janice Johnson on August 14, 1970. The couple had three children. Roger was a truck driver before working at the school for over 20 years as a janitor, and was the owner of Thomsen Cleaning Services until his retirement. He was a member of the Masons and Rednecks in Pender. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, woodworking, camping and boating, and traveling. He loved his dog, Buddy, and being with his family. Roger is survived by his sons, Robert (Kay) Gatzemeyer of Pender, NE, Kailub Gatzemeyer of Pender, NE, and Matt Gatzemeyer of Pender, NE; mother, Esther Thomsen of Pender, NE; sister, Sharlene (Joe) Seipel of Duncan, NE; brother, Dennis (Deb) Thomsen of Dublin, GA, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Darold Thomsen; and wife, Janice Thomsen.
