Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Emerson. June was born in rural Tekamah, Nebraska on June 16, 1919 to Henry (1875-1951) and Delilah (Coy) (1887-1930) Stork, the youngest of 7 children. Her childhood was spent on the family farm southeast of Tekamah. She graduated from Tekamah High School in 1936 and attended Midland College. She married Cecil Plummer on February 24, 1940 in Logan, IA. June was employed in Tekamah and joined Cecil in locations, including Midland, TX and Shreveport, LA, as he trained in the Army Air Corps after enlisting in 1942. Upon Cecil’s discharge in 1945, they resided in Tekamah, NE. June was active in Emmanuel Lutheran Church and her kids’ activities. Extended families were an important part of their life in Tekamah. In 1962, Cecil, June, Chuck, Gwen and Russ relocated to Emerson, NE. In 1964 they moved into their newly constructed home at 510 Dakota St. where June lived until she moved to Heritage in 2012. Many changes occurred during this half of her life: the birth of their fourth child, Diane, Confirmations, graduations, marriages, birthdays, holidays, and Cecil’s 1979 retirement were celebrated. There was a renewed activity level with the addition of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. June’s home had an abundance of love and laughter, a filled cookie jar, sewing, needlework and quilting projects, crossword puzzles in progress and a variety of cats. She (and Russ) became Cecil’s caregiver during his declining health. She mourned his death in 2000 and Gwen’s in 2010. June was an active member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, participating in the Lydia and Dorcas Circles and Bible studies. She supported and joined Cecil in various civic activities, such as the Chamber of Commerce and the Emerson Centennial Committee. They were regulars at the Emerson Senior Center and enjoyed dancing to live music. She continued driving to the dentist in Tekamah well into her 80’s and spent time with her sister, Mary Phyllis, on each trip. June will be remembered for her hospitality, scrumptious dinner rolls, pigs in a blanket, homemade noodles and mashed potatoes, lemon pie for church bake sales, scrabble and highballs while playing Scrabble on Saturday nights with Cecil, furry pillows sewn with love for all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, beating Ryan and Brandon at pitch, her love for cats, flowers and gardening. June had a quick, sometimes biting, wit and signature eye roll that she maintained during her residence at Heritage. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil, daughter, Gwen, parents, two brothers, three sisters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews. She is survived by: sons, Chuck (Danna), Omaha, Russ, Emerson, daughter, Diane Duden (Bob), Lincoln, grandchildren: Stacie Jokumsen (Bryon), Ryan Plummer, Lindsey DeLancey (Troy), Brandon Plummer (Carrie), Zach Duden and Rachael Duden; great-grandchildren: Austin and Alyssa Fleck, Logan Jokumsen, Chase, Shea and Josie DeLancey, Addison and Cameron Plummer, nieces, nephews and friends.
