Leroy J. Wahlers

Leroy J. Wahlers, 83, of Walthill, NE died on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at his home in Walthill. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft, NE. The visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral. The burial will be in the Bancroft Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft. Leroy was born November 15, 1933 in Bancroft to Rudolph and Ella (Yunker), Wahlers, Sr. The family then moved west of Pender after Leroy completed the 8th grade, and eventually started farming with his dad north of Macy. He married Betty Armstrong July 24, 1964 in Dakota City, NE and the couple had five children. Leroy worked for Iowa Beef in Dakota City, ran a D-8 bulldozer for many years, while farming for the Anderson Farm in Dakota City. Leroy is survived by his sons, David Wahlers of Walthill, NE, Chris (Tammy) Wahlers of Dakota City, NE; daughters, LeAnn (Donald) Caldwell of Salina, KS; sisters, Susan Mackling of Pender, NE, Pat (Jim) Schmidt of Sioux City, IA; brother, Rudy (Sandy) Wahlers of Sioux City, IA; ten grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty on September 1, 2016; son, Jonathon; daughter, Tina Harkness; and sister, Margaret Ferryman.
