Burla Dean Renz

Burla Dean Renz, 90, of Pender, NE passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Legacy Garden Rehabilitation and Living Center in Pender, NE. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at the United Church of Pender in Pender, NE; with Pastor Steven Breazier officiating.  Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 19, 2018 at the United Church of Pender.  Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Pender, NE.  Memorials are suggested to the Pender-Thurston Education & Community Foundation Fund or the United Church of Pender.  Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh - Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE.Burla Dean was born in Thurston, Nebraska on December 5, 1927, the daughter of Alvin and Opal (Frey) Merry. She graduated from Thurston High School. She married Leroy Kratky on June 12, 1947.  To this union, three children were born, Kenneth, Merry Lou and Debra.  Leroy died in November, 1959.  In 1962, she married Dutch Renz. Burla Dean was a member of the United Church of Pender. She is survived by a son Kenneth (Nancy) Kratky of Longmont, Colorado, two daughters, Merry Lou (Louis) Rutar of Thurston, Deb (Ray) Welsh of Pender, ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, special friend Helen Kratky, Omaha, special friend Pam Freudenburg, Lincoln, Sister-in-laws Charlene Merry of Pender, Jeannie Kratky of Pender, Beth Renz of Pender, Darlene Smith of Decatur, Betty Hagberg of Michigan, and Mildred Babb of Oregon; two stepsisters, Marilyn (Fred) Lovelace, Sharon Fabry and step brother Ronnie (Linda) Fabry all of Omaha, and step-sister-in-law Sandra Fabry of Lincoln, along with many nieces and nephews.  Burla Dean was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Leroy Kratky and Dutch Renz, twin grandsons, brother Darrel Merry, stepmother Martha Merry.
