Carol M. Bard

Carol M. Bard, 99, of Wakefield, NE died on Monday, December 15, 2020 at the Wakefield Health Care Center in Wakefield, NE. Private family services will be held on Friday, December 18, 2020 at Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield. A graveside service for the public will be held at the Wakefield Cemetery on Friday, December, 18, 2020 at 11:15 a.m. Bressler-Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home of Wakefield is in charge of the arrangements. The family asks for memorials to be designated to the Salem Lutheran Church Carillon Repair Fund. Carol was born in Concord, NE on December 13, 1921, the daughter of Ivar and Hannah (Pearson) Anderson. She was baptized, confirmed and married at Concordia Lutheran Church in Concord, NE. Following her graduation from Wayne Prep High School in 1939, Carol attended two years at Wayne State College, where she earned her teaching degree. She taught school for three years. Carol then attended the University of Nebraska College of Nursing, earning her RN in 1947. During that time she was a Cadet Nurse. On September 4, 1948, she was united in marriage to Harley Bard. To this union three children were born, Roxanne, Daniel and Rachel. She worked for many years at the Wakefield Community Hospital. Carol was active in various church and community functions. She liked to volunteer her time and help people whenever needed. She is survived by her son, Dan (Val) Bard of Wakefield, NE; daugthers, Roxanne (Scott) Thompson of Wakefield, NE and Rachel Bahde of Fremont, NE; five grandchildren; one great granddaughter and a sister, Marilyn Wallin of Wayne, NE. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harley and a brother, Ronald Anderson.
