Corrine Carlson

Corrine Carlson, 97, of Wayne, NE, formerly of Allen, NE, died on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Kinship Pointe Assisted Living in Wayne, NE. The visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. and will run until the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Wakefield, NE. Munderloh - Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield is in charge of the service. Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Evangelical Covenant Church for scholarships to Covenant Cedars Bible Camp. Corrine Lundin was born on January 15, 1926, on the Lundin family farm near Allen. Corrine graduated from Wakefield High School, Luther College in Wahoo, and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. While in college during WWII, she helped build bombs at Mead Ordinance in Center, NE. From 1945 to 1953, Corrine taught school in Central City, NE, Denver CO, and Lincoln. In 1951, Corrine married Elmer Carlson of Lincoln. In 1957 they returned to the Lundin farm until moving to the Kinship Pointe facility in 2014. Corrine raised four children on the farm, while also being active in Covenant Church youth and women’s programs, and later in the special education program in the school, and the Wakefield Care Center. Corrine loved flowers and watching birds at her feeders. She loved visiting with people and was a great encourager to friends and family with many cards and letters. Supporting the gospel mission--in many forms from bible camp to foreign missions--was a passion. Corrine was preceded in death by Elmer (2018) and her parents Fred and Martha Lundin. She is survived by four children: daughter Vicki (Dennis) Scheer of Lincoln, NE, son David of Lakewood CO, and daughters Nanci (Kent) Malm of Central City NE, and Heidi (Greg) Howard of Pioneer, CA, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
