Dale E. Nelson

Dale E. Nelson, 82, of Bancroft, NE passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023, in Fremont, NE. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 2, 2023, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft, NE. The funeral service will be on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Reverend Nathan Henschen officiating. The burial with Military Honors will be in the Bancroft Cemetery in Bancroft, NE. Memorials are suggested to the Bancroft-Rosalie Educational Foundation or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft, NE. Dale was born on September 2, 1941, in West Point, NE to Vernon and Marie (Schoch) Nelson. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church by Reverend Homan. Dale attended and graduated from Bancroft High School in 1959. He served in the US Army and the US Army Reserves. He farmed and owned half of Nelson Transfer with his father from 1955 to 1975. He continued farming, feeding cattle, and became a Curry Seed Dealer. Dale won many awards as a top seed salesman and was known as buyer number 44 at the Burwell Livestock Market for over forty years. He was proud of his accomplishments selling for Curry Seed and feeding thousands of cattle. He also owned part of the Farmers Elevator and Bancroft Cattle Company from 1990 to 2010. Dale is survived by a sister-in-law, Shyrl Nelson of Omaha, NE; nieces, Andrea (Kyle) Keifer of Omaha, NE, Carissa (Mark) Donnor of Blair, NE, Diana (John) Prauner of Omaha, NE; eight great nephews and nieces, Ty and Blake Keifer, Mark, Ella and Luke Donner, Reed, Jack and Kate Prauner; and special friends, Pat & Julie Bruning and their son, Nathan (Tori) Bruning. Dale is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Dennis Nelson.
