David H Burhoop

David H. Burhoop, age 80, of Bancroft, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on the farm on May 31, 2023. The memorial service will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bancroft; with Reverend Nathan Henschen officiating. Inurnment will be in the Bancroft Cemetery. A reception will follow the inurnment in the Church Basement. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft. David was born on October 9, 1942, to Walter and Nelda Arlene (Korth) Burhoop in their farmhouse south of Emerson, NE. He was baptized on November 1, 1942, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, in Wakefield, NE before they moved to the family farm north of Bancroft in 1943. He was confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft, NE in 1956. David attended grade school at District 72 north of town and graduated from Bancroft High School on May 17, 1960. David was united in marriage to Judy Church at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Bancroft on August 3, 1963. David and Judy resided on the family farm north of Bancroft raising their family. David lived on that farm for 79 years. During these last few years as his health declined, Judy selflessly cared for him with unwavering love, dedication, and compassion. Her tireless efforts to ensure he spent his final days on the farm, ensuring his comfort and well-being are a testament to the incredible bond they shared. He was a life-long farmer and worked at Terra Fertilizer in Bancroft, Bancroft Feed Yards, Lander’s Cattle Company in Pender, and operated his own can recycling business until his health began to decline. He was committed to providing for his family and contributing to the community. He was a longtime member of the Bancroft Saddle Club, Cuming County Pork Producers, and served as a school board member for District #72 until it closed. His hard work and dedication were admired by many. David was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was married to his loving wife, Judy (Church) Burhoop, for over 59 years. Together, they created a beautiful life and family filled with love and cherished memories. David is survived by wife, Judy, his 4 children, 11 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren as follows: Daughter, Laurie (Clark) Petersen of Bancroft, NE and their family: Adam (Rachel) Petersen, Britton, Evan, and Joel of Roca, NE; Riley (Suzanne) Petersen, Charlie Anne of Lincoln, NE, Brady Petersen and fiancé Emma Wiebelhaus of Ponca, NE Mariah (Seth) Totten of Wausa,NE. Daughter, Debbie (Brian) Sorensen of Bancroft, NE and their family: Ethan (Taileigh) Sorensen, Louis and Oliver of Lincoln, NE. Erin (Spencer) Wessels, Lillian of Friend, NE Daughter, Denise (AJ) Bonanno of Fayetteville, AR and their daughters: Brooklynn, Bella, and Bristol Son, Bradley Burhoop of Bancroft, NE and his sons, Bowdie and Tavis He is also survived by his sisters-in law, Marilyn Burhoop of Pender, NE, and Jackie Boden of Adams, NE; and numerous nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Nelda Burhoop; in-laws, Lyle and Alen Church; brother, Walter Dale Burhoop; sister, Imogene (Arvid, Jr., "Sonny") Samuelson; brother & sister-in-law, Bill and Susan Church; brothers-in law, Jim Church, and Donovan Boden; nephews, Jerry Burhoop, Jamie Church, Doug Samuelson, and Brian Samuelson. David will be remembered for his kind heart, strong work ethic, and unwavering love for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May David's soul rest in eternal peace, and may his family find comfort in the loving memories they shared.
