Dennis L. Slaughter

Dennis LeRoy Slaughter, 78, of Rosalie, NE, died on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at his home in Rosalie. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walthill, NE; with Rev. Brion Tolzman officiating. The visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 8, 2021 at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft, NE. Burial will be in the Lyons Cemetery in Lyons, NE. In lieu of flowers, memorial money will be donated to the back pack program and food pantry of the communities in which Denny’s grandchildren attended school. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft, NE.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all state guidelines will be in effect and we ask for everyone in attendance to wear a mask.

Denny was born on August 1, 1942 to Russell and Leota (Beckman) Slaughter at their home in Rosalie.  He was baptized into the Lutheran faith in 1942 and confirmed in 1954 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walthill.  He attended and graduated from Rosalie High School in May of 1959.  On June 28, 1964 Denny married Sherry Krahmer in Emerson, NE.  Denny was a life-long cattle farmer in the Rosalie area.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren and watching them play in numerous sporting activities.  Lately, Denny and Sherry spent time together on daily drives around the countryside enjoying various drive thru’s and the scenery together.    

Denny was active in his community and church serving on several boards including Rosalie Public School Board, Bancroft - Rosalie School Board, Immanuel Lutheran Church council, Rosalie Feeders, and the 4-H Club as a beef leader.  He was a member at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rosalie until it closed. 

Denny is survived by his wife, Sherry of Rosalie, NE; son, Brad (Marla) Slaughter of Rosalie, NE; daughters, Michelle (Mick) Soll of Bancroft, NE, Lisa (Ed) Fye of Denton, NE; good friend and right hand man, Brian Marr; sister, Etta Mae (Bob) Krahmer of Emerson, NE; 8 grandchildren, Dr. Joshua (Alaynna) Beutler, Chelsey (Steve) Rabe, Devin Soll, Dylan Slaughter, Kobe Slaughter, Gracie Slaughter, Zachary Fye and Landon Fye; 2 great grandchildren, Waylon Rabe and Nora Beutler.

Denny is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Beverly Slaughter, Carol Bonneau; niece, Phoebe Stanga.
