Dixie Elaine Cadwallader, of Hubbard, NE passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at her home near Hubbard. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hubbard; Father Paul Albenesius will be celebrating Mass. The visitation will be Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. The burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Hubbard. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.  Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Emerson.  Dixie was born April 18, 1953 in Sioux City, IA to Gene and Emma (Carr) Davis. She attended grade school in Sioux City, junior high at Emerson Sacred Heart School, and graduated from Emerson High School and received her Associate’s Degree from Northeast Community College in Norfolk, NE. She then went on to attend Wayne State College. She married Gary Cadwallader on January 16, 1971 in Hubbard. The couple lived in Niobrara and Arizona for two years and Concord for 25 years where she worked construction. Dixie retired in Hubbard four years ago. She enjoyed sewing, making western shirts, yard work and gardening. Dixie is survived by her husband, Gary Cadwallader; sisters, Jeannine (John) Wriedt and Karen Merchant; grandsons, Zachary Cadwallader and Chase Cadwallader; granddaughter, Haley Heydon; sisters-in-law, Ruth (Lyle) Greenough and Sandie Cadwallader; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Shane Cadwallader; parents-in-law Bud and Audrey Cadwallader; parents, Gene and Emma Davis; sisters, Katheryn (Sunny) Crawford and Sharon Westerhold.
