Donna M. Langbehn

February 12, 1938 — February 26, 2020

Donna Marie Langbehn, 82, of Elkhorn, NE died on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at the Wakefield Health Care Center in Wakefield, NE.  Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Wakefield, NE; Pastor Jill Craig will be officiating with Pastor Lyle Person.  The visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday at the church and will run until the time of the funeral service.  Burial is in the Wakefield Cemetery in Wakefield, NE on Monday, March 2, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.  Bressler – Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home of Wakefield is in charge of the arrangements.

Donna was born in Wakefield, NE on February 12, 1938, the daughter of Melvin and Mary (Bengston) Lundin.  She grew up the youngest of six siblings on a farm just South of Allen, NE.  She attended and graduated from Allen High School in Allen.  Shortly after high school, she moved to Omaha, NE where she worked as a bank teller before meeting Walter “Sonny” Langbehn.  They were wed on May 2, 1964, and celebrated 52 years of marriage.  She remained steadily employed in the finance world as a loan officer until her retirement.  This was followed by a season of employment lovin’ on the babies at a childcare (not having had children of her own), and finally at Curves around Omaha and Elkhorn.

Some of the greatest memories made were spent boating, skiing, and fishing on the Missouri River with Sonny and good friends. Another highlight was attending many motorcycle shows with her husband’s 1957 Triumph, which won many awards.

To Donna, life was meant to be lived to its fullest.  And to her, that meant people!  She was always actively celebrating – whether with her bowling league, work and church friends, or her family.  Though she and Sonny didn’t have children, they had numerous pampered pets which were their “kids”, and they greatly loved on their nieces and nephews.

Donna is survived by her sister Vivian Olson of Wakefield, NE; cousin, Corrine Carlson currently of Wayne, NE; nephews and nieces, Bruce (Deb) Olson, Betty (Bob) Olson, Suzanne (Jeff) Elliott, Peter (Sandy) Lundin, Mary Jo (Brian) Becker, Deb (Larry) Lawson, Kathy (Dave) Miller, and many other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter “Sonny” Langbehn; brothers, Eugene, Claire, Darold and Gordon Lundin; nephews, Rick Olson, Larry Lundin, Kenny Lundin; and niece, Amy Lundin.
