Douglas J Brosh

Douglas John Brosh, 78, of Pender, NE passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at Bryan Medical Center in Lincoln, NE.  The memorial visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Pender, with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m.  The Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 2, 2022, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Father Gerald Leise as the Celebrant.  Inurnment with Military Honors will be at Rosehill Cemetery in Pender.  Memorials are suggested to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Pender.  Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender.  

Douglas was born on May 15, 1944, in Norfolk, NE to Frank and Margaret (Herda) Brosh.  He attended and graduated from Madison High School in 1962.  On April 28, 1965, Douglas married Mary Jane Kralik at St. Leonard’s Catholic Church in Madison.  Shortly after getting married the couple moved to Emerson, NE where they started their family.  Douglas worked at Great Plains Lumberyard and part-time as the overnight police officer in Emerson.  He had a great love for dogs and started his own kennel before moving to Pender in his early 30s.  When the couple established Brosh’s Kennels, Douglas also worked with Pixy Pals as a kennel broker.  He helped at Pender Livestock for several years on sale days and worked at the Pender Veterinary Clinic for 15 years.  His love for animals went further than just dogs, Douglas raised mini horses, donkeys, goats, and rabbits.  He was a lifelong faithful and devoted Catholic and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. 

Douglas is survived by his wife, Mary Jane of Pender; children, Lynette (Steve) Sunderman of Pender, David (Jennifer) Brosh of Scranton, IA, Jesse Brosh (Corey Lorentzen) of Scranton, IA; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and brother, Duane Brosh of Marlow, OK.

Douglas is preceded in death by his parents; and sister-in-law, JoAnn Brosh.
