Ivan Jeppson, 92, of Waverly, NE, formerly of Bancroft, NE, died on Friday, December 18, 2020 at his daughters' house in Waverly. Private funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bancroft, NE. Graveside services for the public will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. at the Bancroft Cemetery in Bancroft, NE. Munderloh - Smith Funeral Home of Bancroft is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Jeppson family. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all state guidelines will be in effect and we ask for everyone in attendance to wear a mask and respect social distancing. Ivan Dale Jeppson was born on March 24, 1928 to Andrew Theodore (Ted) and Laura (Morse) Jeppson at the family farm in Bancroft. He was baptized at the Presbyterian Church in Bancroft. Ivan attended Rural District 78 through 8th grade and then graduated from Bancroft Public High School in 1946. After graduation, Ivan began farming with his brother Harlan. From 1951-1953, Ivan was in the Korean conflict, Army Company F, 110th Division and he served his two years in Germany. In 1954, Ivan met the love of his life, Darlene Halweg at a dance in Sioux City Iowa. Ivan and Darlene were married on February 20, 1955 at St. John’s Evangelical Church in Craig, Iowa. They made their home on the farm at Bancroft. Ivan and Darlene had 3 children, Trudy, Nyla and Alan. Ivan was a quiet and gentle man but when he spoke you listened to his words of wisdom and for that bit of humor he would interject. Ivan farmed his entire life at Bancroft NE until moving to Waverly two years ago to be closer to family. He enjoyed farming and spending many hours on his John Deere tractors. Ivan and Darlene enjoyed bowling, square dancing, and playing pitch with the Jolly Neighbors Card club. They enjoyed attending grandkid activities and traveling with family and friends. For 57 years, they attended or hosted the Company F annual army reunion and made life-long friendships. In 1985 they received the Ak-Sar-Ben Good Neighbor award. He is survived by his wife, Darlene of 65 years, Waverly NE. His daughter’s Trudy (Ed) Franssen, Waverly NE, Nyla Jeppson, Lincoln NE and son Alan (Kelcey) Jeppson Hebron NE. Grandchildren: Jennifer (Jordan) Neujahr, Lincoln NE, Ellis & Ivy Jeppson, Hebron NE and Chad (Danielle Holmstrom) Franssen, Omaha NE. Great Grandchildren: Sydney and Gavyn Neujahr, Lincoln NE. Also surviving Ivan are his siblings: Norman Jeppson, Wakefield NE and Dennis (Leanne) Jeppson, Wahoo NE. Ivan was proceeded in death by his parents, brother Harlan Jeppson and sister-in-law Kathleen Jeppson. We will always remember the love in our Daddy’s hands.
