Jeannette D. (Bassett) Geisler, 91, of Bancroft, NE, died on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at St. Joseph's Hillside Villa in West Point, NE.   The visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh - Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft.  The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Bancroft.  The burial will be in the Bancroft Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh - Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft.

Jeannette was born on May 30, 1932, to Barton and Winnifred (Wyatt) Bassett in Walthill, NE.  In 1941, her family moved to Bancroft for her father’s work.  She was confirmed in the Bancroft Presbyterian Church.  Jeannette graduated from Bancroft High School in 1951.  On August 16, 1953, Jeannette married Lester H. Geisler, the love of her life at the Bancroft Presbyterian Church.  Together the couple owned Les’ Feed and Produce for over 60 years.  Jeannette enjoyed helping Les with the store when he needed help. 

Jeannette was an active member in the church as an Elder, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher, and Presbyterian Women.  She belonged to the Bancroft Senior Center Chimers, Bancroft Women’s Club, and Friendly Homemakers.  Jeannette was a Girl Scout leader for many years.  She enjoyed making plastic canvas crafts for family and friends.

Jeannette is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Clifford) Novak; grandchildren, Marton Novak, Nicholas (Katie) Novak, MaryAnn Novak; great-grandson, Michael Hendersen; sisters-in-law, Margaret (BJ) Hammel, and Betty Geisler.

Jeannette is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lester; in-laws, William & Edna Geisler; brother, John Bassett; and other family members, Orville Geisler, Melvin & Jean Geisler, Marie & Don Samson.
