Keith R. Lorensen

Keith R Lorensen, 93, of Laguna Woods, California died Saturday January 25, 2020.  A memorial service will be held at a later date in Pender. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender.

Keith was born October 8, 1926 in Pender to Jesse and Myrle Lorensen. Keith attended Pender High School and graduated from Wentworth Military Academy. Keith joined the Navy Air Corps and flew on the PBY Catalina Seaplane. The Catalina’s were ready to leave for Japan when WWII ended.

He then enrolled at the University of Nebraska where he meet Sara Sue Alexander. They were married August 20, 1948 in Falls City, NE. They settled in Pender and had 4 children, Karen, Retta, Mark and Lynn.

Keith and his Dad bought Heyne Lumber in 1950 and started Lorensen Lumber and Grain. Several years later they added ready mix concrete to the operation. Keith and Susie spent winters in southern California until 2015 when they stayed there full time. They loved to golf and Keith loved to shoot craps in Las Vegas.

Keith is survived by his wife Susie of Laguna Woods, CA; daughters, Karen (Paul) Jones of Phoenix, OR, Retta (Joe) Mullaney of Laguna Woods, CA, Lynn (Chip) Sorenson of Pender; son, Mark (Jana) of Pender; 6 grandchildren, Jeff (Jenny) Baker, Sara (Tom) Langan, AJ (Samantha) Mullaney, Paige Mullaney, Lily and Ali Lorensen; 4 step grandchildren, Paige, Chance, Jase and Justice Sorenson; 2 great grandchildren, Jaxon and Jordan Baker; sister, Mary Cosper of Lincoln.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Jack.

Memorial are suggested to be given to the Pender/Thurston Community Foundation Fund.
