Kent Douglas Powley, 66, of Pender, NE passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at his home in Pender. A memorial visitation will be on Sunday, December 4, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender. The memorial service will be on Monday, December 5, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Church of Pender, with Pastor Daniel Springer officiating. The Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Pender. Memorials are suggested to the Pender Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender. Kent was born on November 13, 1956, in Pender, NE to Carroll and Mary (Taylor) Powley. He attended and graduated from Pender Public Schools in 1975. Kent continued his education by studying plumbing and heating at Northeast Community College in Norfolk. After college, he worked for Volkman’s Plumbing and Heating in Norfolk until he moved back to Pender to be closer to his family. Kent worked at BlueOx for 26 years before retiring in 2022. Kent was a giving and caring man. He would help anyone in need and spent many hours volunteering his time. Kent was 18 years old when he became a member of the Pender Volunteer Fire Department and served for 41 years. Kent was the youngest member of the department when he joined. In 2018, he became an honorary member of the fire department. Kent enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting, and tinkering around with things, riding motorcycles with his brothers. Kent loved spending time with his nieces and nephew, and great-nieces and nephews. When Kent wasn’t helping others, he liked listening to music and going dancing, but most of all, he loved talking to everyone in the community. Kent is survived by his brothers, Paul (Teresa) Powley of Pender, Dave (Wendy) Powley of Pender; nieces, Sheena (Jarred) Whitsell and their children Ella and McKinlee of Lincoln, Jessica (Danny) Bentley and their children Elizabeth and Reed of Pender, Kayla Powley of Lincoln, Paige Ellis of Mesa, AZ, and Emily Ellis of Pender. Kent is preceded in death by his parents; and nephew, Derek Powley.
