LeRoy W. Evans

LeRoy W. Evans, 90, of Temecula, CA, passed away on November 10, 2021, at his home. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender. Inurnment with Military Honors will be at Rosehill Cemetery in Pender. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender. LeRoy was born on November 11, 1930, to Elmer “Lee” and Mildred (Martinson) Evans in Hartington, NE. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. LeRoy attended and graduated from Pender High School in 1949. After graduation, he served in the US Army during the Korean War. Upon his return to the United States, he enrolled in Electrical Tech School in Chicago, IL. On October 24, 1964, LeRoy married Rose Marie (Score-Mathiesen). Together the couple moved to California where LeRoy worked as an electrician and installed cabinets in newly built homes. Most recently, LeRoy lived in Temecula, CA. He enjoyed watching football and brewing his own beer. LeRoy is survived by his stepson, Thomas Mathiesen; sister, Carol “Jeanie” Gatzemeyer; nephews, Scott (Carol) Evans, and Cyler (Dawn) Hayes; nieces, Shelley (Richard) Smith, Susan (Doug) Schrieber, Vickie (Doug) Cameron and Valerie Hayes. LeRoy is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rose Marie; an infant sister; brother, Marlin (Lucille) Evans, brother-in-law, Ronald Gatzemeyer; and sister-in-law, Shirlene (Corwin) Hayes.
