Loren J. Kubik

Loren J. Kubik, 84, of Thurston, NE, died on Friday, October 20, 2023 at his home near Thurston.  The visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender.  The funeral service will be on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at 10:30 a.m., Pastor Karen McNeill – Utecht will be officiating.  Burial with Military Honors will be in the Rosehill Cemetery in Pender.  Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.

Loren was born on April 30, 1939, on the family farm near Thurston, the son of Clarence and Libby (Fillipi) Kubik.  He attended and graduated from Thurston High School in Thurston, NE.  In 1957, Loren entered the United States Army.  Following his time in the service, he returned to Thurston, where he raised his four sons.  He worked at Blu-Jet in Thurston, and later at Logan Valley Manufacturing in Pender.  He enjoyed working on small engines and tinkering around the farm.

He is survived by his sons, Mark (Tricia) Kubik of Aurora, NE, Bryon Kubik of Omaha, NE, Joel (Shawna) Kubik of Homer, NE, Brent Kubik (Brittney Kendall) of Lincoln, NE; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Kaylee (Michael) Reinsch and daughter Olivia of Aurora, NE, Jacie (Darrin) Eisenhauer, and their sons, Ike, Tripp, and Hux of West Point, NE, Alex (Caitlyn) Kubik of Omaha, NE, Brett Kubik of Siloan Springs, AR; sisters, JoAnn (Roger) Paulsen of Emerson, NE, Marilyn (Ron) Paseka of Onawa, IA, Elsie (Eldon) Kieborz of Loop City, NE; brothers, LaVern (Viola) Kubik of Pender, NE, and Don Kubik of Emerson, NE.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three infant children; infant twin brother, Carroll Kubik; brother, Melvin “Butch” Kubik; sisters, Clara Cooper, Evelyn Hammer, Darlene Kubik, and Arlene Henschke.
