Lorraine L. Vollers

October 22, 1932 — November 11, 2023

Lorraine Laura (Beckman) Vollers, 91, of Sioux City, IA, formerly of Pender, NE, died of cancer on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Sunrise Retirement Community in Sioux City, IA.  Private family graveside services will be held at Rosehill Cemetery in Pender, NE.  Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE.  

Lorraine Vollers was born October 22, 1932 in rural Beemer, Nebraska, the
daughter of Ludwig and Erna (Beerbohm) Beckman. Lorraine graduated from Pender
High School in 1950. After high school she lived and worked in Sioux City. She
married Dell Vollers on June 20, 1954 in Pender, and they made their home in
Pender. Her greatest blessings were four children, 18 grandchildren and 38 great-
grandchildren.


Lorraine served in the Thurston County Treasurer and Clerk’s offices. She joined
her husband at Vollers and Son Ford dealership in 1978. She enjoyed teaching Sunday
School and serving others at church. Most recently she attended Southern Hills
Baptist Church in Sioux City. After her husband’s death in 1998, she spent many
hours volunteering at the Glass Apple gift shop, Meals on Wheels, Hospice of
Siouxland and other organizations.


Survivors include a son, Dr. Kurt (Rachel) Vollers of Central City, NE; three
daughters, Kathy (Lon) Hale of Savonburg, KS; Karen (Barry) Molencupp of
Rockford, IL; and Lori (Cliff) Teel of Hornick, IA; a sister, Arllys (Jim) Campbell,
brothers Larry (Kathy) Beckman and Dennis Beckman; sisters-in-law, Karen
Beckman and Joan Beckman; 18 grandchildren, Krista (Greg) Bennett, David
(Rebecca) Hale, Kara Hale, Matthew (Hannah) Hale, Jonathan (Abigail) Hale, Mark
(Natalie) Molencupp, Stephanie (Johnny) Wildt, Janell (Jonathan) Coley, Karissa
(Ryan) Smith, Ryan (Julianne) Molencupp, Laura (Reid) Wintersteen, Joylynn
(Brock) Rice, Kaleb (Arielle) Vollers, Rachelle (Tremayne) Blair, Karl (Ashley)
Vollers, Sarah (Jon) Royle, Andrew Teel, Hannah Teel; 38 great-grandchildren;
many nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her husband Dell; great-grand daughter Kenley
Vollers; sisters, LaDonna (Dick) Waibel, Marlene (Richard) Cook; brothers, Lonald
Beckman, Ronald Beckman, Arlyn Beckman; sister-in-law, Belinda Beckman.

We are grateful to the Sunrise Retirement Community for the friendships she made
while living at The Pointe and for the care she received in the last month of her life
at their skilled care facility. We also want to express our gratitude for the care and
services given by Hospice of Siouxland.
