Mae Westerhold

Mae Adeline (Schroeder) Westerhold, 90, of Pender, Nebraska passed away on August 4, 2018 at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender. A funeral service will be Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in rural Pender; Pastor Kathy Montira will be officiating. The visitation will be Monday, August 6, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. The burial will be in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender, NE. Mae was born March 8, 1928 in Pender, NE to Henry and Nellie (Drews) Schroeder. She was baptized May 27, 1928 and confirmed April 6, 1941 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Mae married Alvin Herman Westerhold January 19, 1947 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church where she was a member of the WELCA. She was also a Senior Center Board Member and CC Club member. Mae enjoyed assembling puzzles, quilting, sewing, gardening, and cooking. She spent countless hours card playing with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; she always had time to play when they came. Alvin and Mae were a member of the Neighborhood Sheephead Club for over 45 years. Mae also enjoyed traveling and time spent with family and friends. She is survived by her sons, Ron (Karen) Westerhold of Pender, NE, Don (Peggy) Westerhold of Lincoln, NE, Larry (Vicky) Westerhold of Pender, NE; daughter, Ellen (Rod) Lander of Pender, NE; sisters, Delores Ammon of Bassett, NE, Mardell Henson of Oklahoma City, OK; sister-in-law, Anna Marie Schademann of Pender, NE; 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Mae was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin in 1998; brothers-in-law, Lloyd Schademann, Harold Ammon, and Roland Henson; and an infant grandson.
