Maxine V. Peters

Maxine Viney Peters, 99, of Emerson, NE, died on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Heritage of Emerson, in Emerson, NE.  Private family services will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson, NE.  Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Emerson.
  

Maxine was born on January 12, 1925, at the home of her parents between Emerson, NE and Wakefield, Ne, the daughter of Benjamin and Viney (Strivens) Bokemper.  She was married to Delbert Gradert on January 29, 1943, and together they had six children, Jerry, Judy, Betty, David, Leonard and Cathy Gradert.  After Delbert’s death on January 4, 1956, the family moved to Emerson, NE.

Maxine was married to LeRoy Peters on June 11, 1960, and a son LeRoy Dean, Jr. was born.  LeRoy Peters, Sr. passed away on November 9, 1992.

Maxine was very devoted to her family and loved hearing of all the activities and accomplishments of her grandchildren.  They always left her home with a small bag of candy and a stick of gum.  Bird watching was another favorite activity of hers.

Maxine is survived by son, LeRoy Dean Peters (Joann) of Omaha, NE; daughters, Judy Gathje (Harlan) of Pender, NE, Betty Svitak (Rainold) of Fremont, NE, Cathy Hulsebus (Richard) of Sioux City, IA; daughters-in-law, Mary Steinman, Janice Gradert, and Beverly Gradert; sisters, Shirley Carder, and Joann Flammang; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and  great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; ten siblings; husbands, Delbert and LeRoy; three sons, Jerry, David, and Leonard Gradert.
