Myron "Mike" G. Kelly

Myron "Mike" Glen Kelly, 94, of Thurston, NE, died on Monday, April 10, 2023, at Heritage of Emerson Nursing Home in Emerson, NE.  The visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emerson, with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Emerson.  Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.  Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Emerson.      

Mike was born on January 15, 1929, in Pender, NE to John R. and Bernice L. (Smith) Kelly.  He attended and graduated from Thurston High School in 1946.  On November 24, 1949, Mike married Alice Coan at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emerson.  Mike was a lifelong farmer in the Thurston area. 

Mike was the Thurston County Supervisor for 16 years and served on the Thurston Fire Department & Rescue Squad, and Thurston School Board.  Mike enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, camping, and dancing.  He loved spending time with his family and attending their activities. 

Mike is survived by his wife, Alice Kelly of Thurston, NE; son, Jack (Patricia) Kelly of Thurston, NE; daughters, Jane (George) Schrunk of East Dubuque, IL, Julie (Myron) Oliver of Boone, IA; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Kate (Mark), Grace, Leah, Anna & Nick, Scott, Jana (Dave) & Kinsley, Jamie, Shannon (Matt), Maddi & Nolan, Chris (Abby), Ayden, Elliott, Ashley & Evan, Jeff (Melissa), Caleb, Lane, Reese, Camden, Rayna, Zoey & Zachary, Kelly (Wes) & Adalind, Melissa (Tim), Brandon (Michelle) & Reagan, Ryan (Jennifer), Maddy, Luke & Isabelle; sisters-in-law, Rosemary Coan, Elaine Meyer, Ellen Coan, Mary (Fred) Hendricks. 

Mike is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gerald (Lee) Kelly, Morris (Cleone) Kelly, William (Gladys) Kelly.
