Naomi L. Brummond

Naomi L. Brummond, 85, of Rosalie, NE died on Wednesday, May 09, 2018 at Colonial Haven Nursing Facility in Beemer, NE.  Funeral services for Naomi will be held on Monday, May 14, 2018 at 10:30 at the Covenant Church in Pender, NE; Pastor Dan Springer will be officiating.  The visitation will be held on Sunday, May 13, 2018 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Bancroft Cemetery in Bancroft, NE.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.  Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh - Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft, NE. Naomi Lynn (Vestal) Brummond was born in rural Marquez, Texas in Leon County May 9, 1933 to Dale Bertram and Lilla Lee (Dezelle) Vestal.  Naomi attended Concord and Centerville Texas school systems and in 1951 graduated from Centerville High School.  She was always full of life and enjoyed whatever activity she participated in.  She especially enjoyed volleyball and softball.  One of her greatest pleasures was spending time with her grandparents in Redland, Texas near Centerville, Texas where she was entertained with jokes and tall tales. After graduation from High School, Naomi lived in San Antonio, Texas where she worked in a hospital and met Kenneth Brummond who was serving in the Air Force at Lackland Air Force Base.  Two months later they were engaged to be married.  They were married on September 5, 1952.  They were blessed with a daughter, Fay Lynn on July 29, 1953.  After Kenneth was honorably discharged from the Air Force, the family moved back to Nebraska.  They were blessed with a second daughter, LeaAnn on March 4, 1955.  They began farming in rural Rosalie Nebraska in 1956 and lived in the home Kenneth was born in.  Their son, Cecil was born on October 3, 1962.  Naomi had a great interest in politics through her life and served on several committees, the Bancroft-Rosalie School Board and assisted with local, county, state and national elections. Naomi is survived by husband, Kenneth Eugene Brummond; daughter and son-in-law, LeaAnn and Roger Tremayne of Walthill, NE; son and daughter-in-law, Cecil and Jolene Brummond of Bancroft, NE; grandchildren, Stephanie (Jon) Luedert, Jarrod (Brad) Tremayne, Andrea Tremayne, Ashley (Sean) Christensen, Camron Brummond, Connor Brummond and Amanda Brummond; great-grandchildren, Emily Luedert, Alexandria Luedert, Joshua Luedert, Charlotte Christensen and Garrett Christensen.  She is also survived by brothers, Ewing Calhoun (Mabel) Vestal and Joe Vestal; sister, Mardie (Don) Ballard; son-in-law, Wayne Cullefer; and many cousins; nieces; and nephews.Naomi was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ewing Calhoun and Marcella Rebecca Jane Vestal and Thomas Evan (TE) and Carlene Streeter Dezelle; parents, Dale Bertram and Lilla Lee Vestal; sisters, Lilla Joyce Vestal, Duskie Ann (Jim) Fitzgerald and Shirley Beth Olsberg; and daughter, Fay Lynn Cullefer.
