December 13, 1925 — November 29, 2020

Orville Carl Zeisler, 94, of Emerson, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at Heritage of Emerson.  Graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson.  Because there is no memorial service, Orville’s family requests that no flowers be sent.  Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.  Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Emerson.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all state guidelines will be in effect and we ask for everyone in attendance to wear a mask.

Orville was born December 13, 1925, to Otto and Emily (Stallbaum) Zeisler, at Emerson, Nebraska.  He attended Pleasant Hill Country School until the 8th grade, at which time he had to go to work on the family farm.  Orville married Mildred Koopman on November 20, 1949, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson.  They just celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary.  To this union, three daughters were born, Dorothy, Vickie, and Barbara.

Orville and Mildred owned and operated Millie’s Lunch and Pool Hall, Orv’s Radio and TV, Orv’s Auto Parts, and Orville Zeisler Commercial Trucking.  Orville was also employed by Thurston County, Salmon Well Company, Emerson-Hubbard Community School, and H. S. Holtz Construction.  Orville liked to brag on helping build Wayne State College’s Bowen Hall and St. Luke’s Hospital. He is most remembered for his green thumb.

Orville was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and served on the Church Council.  He also was a volunteer fireman for the Emerson Fire Department.  Orville was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and great grandfather, and will be missed dearly.

Orville is survived by his three daughters, Dorothy (Wayne) Oetken of Madison, South Dakota; Vickie (Mike) Loofe of Wakefield, Nebraska; and Barbara (Kevin) Stewart of Emerson, Nebraska; ten grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild and one great, great-grandchild on the way; one brother Bill (Mary) Zeisler of Emerson; sister-in-law Betty Zeisler, also of Emerson; and many nieces and nephews.

Orville was preceded in death by his wife; parents; two brothers, Art and Darrell (Geraldine); two sisters Bernice (Ray) Pope and Elinor (Henry) Leseberg,; and one son-in-law Brad Schwarten.

Our family wishes to express our gratitude for your kindness and sympathy expressed to us.
