Emerson, Nebraska

Patricia Ann Krueger, of rural Emerson, NE, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024, just a month after celebrating her 90th birthday, at her home of 67 years, surrounded by her family.  The visitation for Pat will be on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emerson, NE.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Emerson.  Arrangements are under the direction of Munderloh - Smith Funeral Home in Emerson.

She was born on February 23, 1934, near Winnebago, the daughter of James and Nellie (McQueen) Neill.  Patricia graduated from Emerson High School in 1951. She earned a teaching certificate from Wayne Teacher’s College and taught at Sunnyside School District 25 in Dakota County for one year.  She married Leroy Joseph Krueger on September 27, 1952. A farmer’s wife, she became a widow at age 36 and would finish raising their nine children as a single mother with strength, courage, faith, and determination.  Patricia was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, fishing, camping, baking cookies & cinnamon rolls, giving crochet and embroidery lessons, and spending time with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, James, George, Earl, Lee, John, and Francis, and five sisters, Rose, Mabel, Ella Mae, Joan, and Elizabeth, sisters-in-law Leona, and LaVina, her husband Leroy, her sons Leon, Patrick, Dale, and Randy, and son-in-law George Holm.

She is survived by her daughters Susan (Mike) Sherry, Karen Holm, Debra (Donald) Thrailkill, her sons John (Mary) Krueger and Jeffrey (Becky) Krueger, daughters-in-law Faye Krueger and Rebecca Krueger, sister-in-law Marie Cook, 29 grandchildren, and  31 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a faithful dog named Otis.
