Verne Miles Tyrrell

Verne M. Tyrrell, 69, of Pender, died on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender. A memorial visitation will be held tonight (Thursday) from 5-7 p.m. at the Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Pender. The memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. at the Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home following the visitation.  

Verne was born on May 11, 1953, in Philadelphia, PA, the son of Mervin and Roberta "Rose" (Adams) Tyrrell.  At an early age, the family moved to Titusville, FL, where his father worked with NASA on the rocket program. This is where he found his lifelong love for the space program. He later moved to Pender, where he graduated from Pender High School in 1971.  

Verne was united in marriage to Jennifer Baker at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender on January 23, 1971.  To this marriage, Michael and Nicole were born. He worked at Iowa Beef for a few years before working at NESKA Oil in Pender, where he serviced cars, small engines and delivered gas and propane. He later went on to work at Automatic-Blue Ox in Pender. He enjoyed bowling and working on his cabin on the river, craft beers, especially Guinness, and traveling with his family. Verne was a longtime member of the Pender Volunteer Fire and Rescue Departments.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jennifer of Pender; son, Michael (Erika) of Spring Hill, TN; daughter, Nicole Tyrrell-Feltes of Pender; grandchildren, Tymarie (Eric) Svenson, Tyler (Winter) Tyrrell, Emily Tyrrell, Courtney Tyrrell, Jared (Keanah) Tyrrell, Blake Feltes; nine great-grandchildren; mothers-in-law, Karen Dahlman of Pender, and Cindy Baker of Pender; sister-in-law Xiaoya Tang of Seattle, WA; and two nieces, Skye and Rachel; brothers-in-law, Brian (Val) Baker of Wakefield, Brad Baker of Pender, Steven Shemat of Calais, ME and John Shemat of Pender, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Leslie Tyrrell; father-in-law, Darrel Baker; sister-in-law, Cindy Kubik; nephew, Josh Baker.
