After graduating from Walthill High School in 1961, Dan earned his degree in teaching from Wayne State College. He was united in marriage to Sara Sue Bentjen. To this union three sons were born: Daniel, Thomas and Steven. They later divorced. On February 4, 1978 he married Judith Andrew. The couple moved often, following Dan’s teaching and coaching career. He taught and coached at Pender, Homer, Charter Oak, Allen and Walthill, along with substituted at several schools in Northeast Nebraska. They made their home in Wakefield. Following Dan’s retirement, he still enjoyed teaching driver’s education. Dan and Judy were loyal followers of Wakefield Athletics, winning the Eldy Nixon Fan of the Year Award in 2017. Dan enjoyed fishing and hunting, traveling and cruising with his wife, Judy. Most of all he loved his wife, siblings, and all of his children and grandchildren. Nothing made him happier than being able to go to his kids and grandkids school functions, sporting events and concerts. He was even happy to coach from the sidelines until Judy’s elbows would reel him in. But that was Dan, fiercely loyal and his family could do no wrong. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Judy Loofe of Wakefield; sons, Daniel G. Loofe, II of Sioux City, IA, Thomas (Kari) Loofe of Sioux Falls, SD, Steven (Ericka) Loofe of Lakeland, FL; step-children, Pam (Ralph) Peterson of Wakefield, NE, Jeff (Jamie) Olsufka of Wayne, NE, Cindy (Tim) French of Decatur, NE, Nancy (Scott) DeMars of Santee, CA, Mike (Tammie) Mogus of Wakefield, NE; sister, Patty (Ed) Roberts of S.
