Mary Lou (Gensler) Erb, 85, of Wakefield, NE passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at Providence Medical Center in Wayne, NE. A private graveside service will be held in the Wakefield Cemetery in Wakefield. A public luncheon will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. at the Wakefield American Legion in Wakefield. In leiu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the famiy for future designation. Arrangements are under the direction of Bressler-Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield. 

Mary Lou was born September 9, 1933 in Allen, NE to Elmer and Margaret (McCloud) Gensler. She graduated from Laurel High School in 1950. Mary Lou married Eugene Walter Erb on September 9, 1954 in Norfolk, NE and the couple had three children. Mary Lou was employed at Michael’s Foods and was a long-time cook at Wakefield Schools. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, bridge club and delivered the Morning Shopper. She loved to golf, bowl, ride around in the Ranger, and visit her friends in the nursing home,. Most of all, Mary Lou loved attending her numerous grandkids’ activities including baseball, basketball, football, and track events.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene Erb of Wakefield, NE; son, Jason (Denise) Erb of Wakefield, NE; daughters, Joni (Jono) Kline of Omaha, NE, Lana (Doug) Otto of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Derek (Brady) Erb-Woods, Ben (Jordan) Kline, Corey Kline, Drake Otto, Cole Otto, Justin Erb; and great-grandchild, Kennedy Kline.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Martin Gensler; sisters, Irene Wilson, Francis Casey, and Donna Tagg.
